Aqua Carnival Lehenga set with Draped Dupatta

The dupatta is not an accessory here — it is the front of the garment. Pinned at one shoulder and fixed again below the hip, it falls on a diagonal across the skirt and stays there, so the pearl-scalloped border becomes the line that reads first and the plain crepe beneath it is left to do nothing but move. The skirt is unembroidered on purpose. It was cut to be covered.

The blouse holds everything the skirt gives up. Beads and stones worked close over an aqua ground, shell-form beads set along the neckline and straps, small floral clusters raised off the surface, and feather tufts in pink, yellow, blue and green caught into the work so the whole thing shifts colour depending on where you stand. The dupatta carries a heavy pearl and stone border with shells set into it, and stones, beads and tikkis scattered loose across the body of the fabric. Natural crepe throughout — three pieces, in an umbrella cut that opens fully when you turn.

Made for carnival and other occasions. This is a piece built around movement, and it will look like less than it is standing still in a receiving line.
