Aqua Silk Lehenga — Placed Floral Print with Hand Embroidery and Attached Dupatta

Aqua, and then a whole garden thrown at it — violet, marigold, coral, fuchsia, every colour arriving at once. This is the carnival piece, and it does not pretend otherwise.

The print on the skirt is placed rather than repeated: a dense floral border rising from the hem and breaking into scattered blooms as it climbs the flare, positioned panel by panel so the pattern sits where the sweep is widest. Over it, the hand goes back in — thread, bead, sequin and pearl following the printed flowers so the surface lifts exactly where the colour already sits. The corset is worked heavier still, in dimensional beadwork with a butterfly at the centre and fine beaded tassels left hanging loose, cut open across the back on beaded straps. The organza dupatta is attached at the shoulder, so it moves with you rather than needing to be held.
