Peach One Shoulder Lehenga Set with Cerulean Hand Embroidery
The skirt is left entirely bare. Every hour of handwork sits above the waist — velvet thread laid down in a feathered repeat, matte against the light where the sequins beside it catch it. The tikkis are placed one by one along the leaf forms rather than scattered across them, and the pearls and beads run in lines that follow the same shapes. Orange, lime, coral, mustard, turquoise. The blue underneath is barely one colour by the end.
The edges are cut, not hemmed. The blouse and the hip band both finish along the outline of the embroidery itself, so the border is jagged and leaf-shaped rather than ruled straight — a finish worked by hand after the embroidery is complete, which leaves the pattern looking as though it grew past the edge of the cloth. One shoulder carries a full sleeve; the other is left uncovered. At the bust, a raised floral cluster breaks the repeat, with bead strands hanging loose from it. The skirt falls in full circular flare and moves the way net moves.
Made for daytime — a brunch function, a mehendi that runs into the afternoon, anywhere the light is doing half the work. The colour is carnival, and it is not a subtle piece. It is for the guest who has decided not to disappear into the pastels.
