Deep ruby silk, and the dupatta already draped across it — pinned like a pallu, so the whole thing reads as one piece rather than three. The skirt is left almost bare, just a scatter of gold sequin butis catching light across the flare.

The blouse is the craft. A curved plain plate sits at the centre, buttoned down its length with covered gold balls, and around it the panels open into zardozi pitta — flat gold reeds fanning outward, lotus and bud motifs worked in mustard, coral and pearl, aari and tikki filling the spaces between. The dupatta is organza, scalloped at the edge, lined in fine sequin, drifting with butis.
